MT-2 — Cyclic Melanocortin Receptor Agonist
MT-2 (Melanotan II) is a synthetic cyclic lactam analog of alpha-melanocyte stimulating hormone (α-MSH). Mechanism of Action
MT-2 acts as a non-selective agonist across multiple melanocortin receptor subtypes (MC1R through MC5R). MC1R activation in melanocytes stimulates eumelanin synthesis through the cAMP/PKA/MITF signaling cascade. MC3R and MC4R activation in the hypothalamus modulates appetite, energy homeostasis, and sexual function pathways.
